Memorial Ghurka Soldies

"In memory of
Ghurka Officers and Soldiers
and their wives and children
formerly buried in
Pasir Panjang
and Ulu Pandan cemeteries
whose ashes now lie
in this garden"

This memorial sits in a plot within Kranji War Cemetery called the 'Ghurka Garden'.

Pasir Panjang and Ulu Pandang cemeteries contained both Military and Civilian burials but due to the shortage of land available in Singapore they were closed and the remains transferred to Kranji War Cemetery and an adjacent civilian plot.

Pasir Panjang was the site of coastal artillery battery and also the site of a fierce battle in the final days of the invasion of Singapore on 13-15th February 1942.
