War Memorial Merksem

This Heroes' Monument was created in 1950 in memory of the fallen soldiers and sailors of both wars, those executed at the De Schelde power plant, and the deceased political prisoners and resisters. The memorial plaques between the pillars of the monument bear the names of the victims.

Near the memorial are also a number of columns bearing the names of British and Canadian soldiers who died during the 1st and 2nd battle of Merksem.
