In the first years of the war, twenty-nine officers' houses were built in Noord Brabantlaan 92 to 146. They were intended for German soldiers who were stationed at Welschap. The houses were specially built with thick walls, so-called bunker houses. The outer walls were almost a meter thick, against bullets and bomb and/or grenade fragments.
On 'mad Tuesday' September 5 and afterwards, after the departure of the Germans, everything was looted. After the war in 1949/1950, the houses were converted for normal habitation, but the thick walls remained.
