Belgian War Graves Mozet

The municipal cemetery of Mozet contains war graves from the First and Second World Wars,

DECHAMPS Gustave: was a war volunteer. He died for his country in Paris on November 22, 1915.

LAMY Emile: corporal 19th Line 6th Company.
Was wounded by shrapnel in Merkem on November 28, 1917,
he died in Hoogstade a day later. He was 24 years old. In 1921 he was reburied in the municipal cemetery of his native village of Mozet.

LORGE Robert: war volunteer, telegram deliverer. Was wounded in Quiévrain, died for the fatherland in Mons in May 1940.

TILLIEUX Albert and BIBOT Maurice, resistance members affiliated with the Secret Army.
On June 25, 1944, a group of resistance fighters had to leave their first shelter in Faulx-Les-Tombes. They joined the group from the farm "Sur les Sarts" in Maibelle, in the village of Emptinne. Their movements were not very discreet and they were reported to the Gestapo in Dinant. About 40 were present when the Germans raided. A number of resisters tried to flee, the others continued to resist.
The Germans lost 140 men but ultimately won the battle.
The surviving resistance fighters were taken to Namur prison and later deported.
Albert and Maurice died in this battle, they were buried together in their native village of Mozet.
