Ferme d’En-Haut Ligny

Ferme d’En-Haut in Ligny is an historical site for its role in the Battle of Ligny, which took place on 16 June 1815. This battle was Napoleon's last victory before his defeat at Waterloo.
On the facade there is a memorial plaque surmounted by an eagle, surrounded by the dates 1815 and 1965 with the following inscription:
"Ferme d’En-Haut. Défendue par les Prussiens de Blücher, cette ferme fut enlevée le 16 juin 1815 par la Garde impériale épaulant deux divisions du 4e corps d’armée du général Gérard. Napoléon y pénétra le soir de cette glorieuse journée ».
Translation : « Ferme d'En-Haut. This farm was defended by Blücher's Prussian army. Conquered on 16 June 1815 by the Imperial Guard supported by two divisions of General Gérard's 4th Army Corps. Napoleon entered this farm on the evening of this glorious day.
