Belgian War Graves Doische

The war grave of Désiré ANCEAU is located at the municipal cemetery of Doische.
He was part of the RFL (Reserve Garrison Liège Fort) 2nd Group 6th Battery. Like most training and reserve units, the reserve garrisons of the Liège forts were first moved to West Flanders and later also to southern France. The RFL units usually did this with their own transport. Sometimes they ended up in the violence of the rapidly advancing Germans near the Somme and ended up dying there. Désiré Anceau was probably seriously injured in these circumstances, he died on May 21, 1940 in a hospital in Capelle-lès-Hesdin (FR) from his injuries.

The cemetery also contains the joint grave of four civilian victims: Joséphine WAYENS, Hélène PIRON, Hélène ROFIDAL and Marcelle LAMBEAU, all died on May 14, 1940.
