Belgian War Graves Loyers

At the Saint-Sébastien church of Loyers there are two more war graves from the Second World War.

Gilbert ERVINCKX: executed political prisoner, shot in Jumet in 1944. Initially ended up in a mass grave, but reburied in Loyers in 1945.

Charles CASSAERT: 2nd Border Cyclists Brigade, killed in Harelbeke on May 24, 1940.
"Charles Cassaert fell in front of the enemy near the Leie on May 24, 1940 while heroically defending his platoon's base, and had already distinguished himself by shooting down an enemy aircraft that attacked his group with his machine guns."
