The monument to the First World War is located in the cemetery next to the Sainte-Gertrude church.
The names of the victims are listed:
François DACHE, soldier
Oscar GUBIN and Jules THEUNIS, deportees.
Next to the grave there is also a memorial plaque for François Dache, who fell on the field of honor.
There is an information board at the entrance to the cemetery:
"The only victim among the 18 fighters from Floriffoux, François Dache, born in the municipality on December 27, 1893, fell on October 15 in Roeselare and died on October 16, 1918.
Since September 28, 1918, the Allies under the command of King Albert I launched an offensive towards the Lille-Roubaix-Tourcoing axis. On October 14, 15 and 16, the Belgian army, helped by the French and English, captured the cities of Roeselare and Torhout. It was during this "Battle of Roeselare" that François Dache was seriously injured and did not survive his wounds. He was first buried there, his remains were repatriated on April 18, 1919 and officially buried at the Floriffoux cemetery on April 21.
The same monument also pays tribute to the 70 deportees of November 27, 1916, two of whom died: one Oscar Gubin during the deportation, the other Jules Theunis as a result."
