War Memorial Lichtenwörth

This memorial commemorates the dead and missing from Lichtenwörth during both world wars.

It is made of rocks with an eagle above it. On three black plaques are written ‘Den Helden des Weltkrieges 1914-1918 and 1939-1945’ with the names of the fallen and missing, the victims of bombings and of a typhus epidemic in 1945 below.

A fourth bronze plaque depicts soldiers with the text ‘Ich had ein Kamerade’.

Austria was still an empire in 1914-1918 and fought alongside the Central Powers. During World War II, it had been annexed by Nazi Germany.
