War Memorial Katzelsdorf

This memorial commemorates the citizens of Katzelsdorf-Eichbutl killed in World War I and World War II. The text on the plaque affixed to the monument reads:

‘Gewidwet den gefallen helden des weltkrieges 1914-1918 Vom Burschen-Derein und edlen Gönnern der Gemeinde Katzelsdorf-Eichbuchl’

‘Dedicated to the fallen heroes of World War 1914-1918 by the boys' club and noble patrons of the municipality of Katzelsdorf-Eichbuchl’

On either side of the memorial, two plaques bearing the names of the victims are set in masonry boulders.

Austria was still an empire in 1914-1918 and fought on the side of the Central Powers. During World War II, it had been annexed by Nazi Germany.
