Mass Grave Perished Prisoners of War Göttingen

In Göttingen cemetery, a mass grave containing 669 World War I prisoners of war is located near the German war graves.

The text on the memorial stone placed on the grave reads:

‘Hier ruhen
655 Russen
13 Rümänen
1 Belgier
Sie starben als soldiers im krieges 1914-1918 im Deutsches Gefangenschaft’

‘Here rest
655 Russians
13 Romanians
1 Belgian
They died as soldiers in the 1914-1918 war in German captivity’
