Hochbunker Oberwiesenfeld (Olympiapark)

During the First World War, the Oberwiesenfeld military airfield stood here. This is where Adolf Hitler received his military training as a soldier in the late summer days of 1914. At that time, the airfield was used for both exercises and operational flights, but not at the same time, which caused a major problem for the overall function of the airfield.

Neville Chamberlain and Edouard Daladier landed here in 1938 for a peace treaty with Hitler.

The airfield was not used by the Luftwaffe during the Second World War. The American army repaired the complex in April 1945 and renamed it AAF advanced Landing Ground, R-74. A few days later, on 8 May 1945, Germany capitulated and with that the urgent military function of the airfield was also gone. The American army continued to use the complex for many years.

In 1968, the airfield was demolished to make room for the Olympiapark. The only remnant of the complex is a Hochbunker built in 1941.
