Ferme de la Haye Saint-Amand

On the initiative of the association for the preservation of Napoleonic monuments, a memorial plaque was placed on this farm with inscription :
"FERME DE LA HAYE / ICI / EST TOMBE / MORTELLEMENT BLESSE / LE 16 JUIN 1815 / LE GENERAL / GIRARD »
Translation : "FERME DE LA HAYE / HERE / FELL / ON 16 JUNE 1815 / MORTALLY WOUNDED / GENERAL / GIRARD".
Jean Baptiste Girard, born on 21 February 1775, volunteered for the army in 1793, became a brigadier general in 1806 and a baron in 1808. On 21 June 1815, Napoleon decided to make him Duke of Ligny. The title could never be officially recognised, given the Emperor's second abdication and Girard's death.
