Luftwaffe Hauptquartier (OKL) Breitenheide

Hermann Göring had his Luftwaffe headquarters "Breitenheide" here.

The complex was built between 1935 and 1937 as a Luftwaffe test base. From that time there are a few bunkers that were connected to each other by tunnels. Around the turn of the year 1940/1941 it became a Luftwaffe headquarters of Hermann Göring. At that time barracks and a wooden villa were built. A train track for Göring's personal train "Asia" was also laid. The headquarters was abandoned in the summer of 1944.

Adolf Hitler and Mussolini visited the headquarters on 25 August 1941. The area is still military terrain today.
