Monument Perished Prisonors of War

This memorial commemorates the 153281 German prisoners of war who died in captivity during World War I. An inscription for soldiers killed during World War II was also added in 1951.

The inscription on this 1934 memorial created by Rudolf Richter and Herbert Kubica reads:

‘153281 Deutsche Frontsoldaten starben in kriegsgefangenschaft fur ihr Vaterland 1914-1920’.

‘153281 German front-line soldiers died as prisoners of war for their fatherland 1914-1920’.

The exact location of the sculpture in the park may vary slightly.
