Camp Ruchard

This camp was commissioned by the French army in 1884. At the beginning of World War II, it served as an internment camp for citizens of enemy powers. After the signing of the armistice in June 1940, a German infantry division moved into the camp and detained prisoners of war.

A number of resistance fighters were also shot in the camp. On 16 May 1942, five young communists from the region and three resistance fighters from other departments were executed. On 27 October 1942, seven members of the Francs-tireurs et Partisans resistance movement were also executed.

Today, the camp is again military terrain and not accessible.
