This bunker number WH 317 of type Regelbau 23 was built as part of the Westwall or Siegrfiedlinie before 1940. This German defence line, which ran from the Netherlands to the Swiss border, was abandoned after the conquest of France in 1940, but was reinstated when the war opportunities returned. Meanwhile, the line no longer met the changed conditions and was then hastily modernised.
The front of the bunker still shows the impacts of when it was attacked and captured by US troops on 22 February 1945. The bunker is closed with a fence and not accessible.
This bunker is part of the Bunkerwanderung Dasburg ‘Von Grau zu Grün’.
