Memorial Chapel Haaltert
There is a "Chapel of Our Lady – Queen of Peace" along the Diepeweg in Haaltert.
During the Second World War, villa Palmyra was built on behalf of a shopkeeper from Aalst. A chapel was built in the garden wall in 1942. During the last years of the war, there were weekly well-attended prayer meetings.
The photos on the memorial plaque show a praying crowd and an enthusiastic neighborhood community at the liberation in 1944.
