This Dutch type B (concrete) 5 casemate was built in October 1939 to reinforce the Grebbelinie to delay a German attack.
Originally, this casemate stood on the Liniedijk near the corner De Ruijterstraat and Evertsenstraat in the Kruiskamp district. In the 1950s, the Liniedijk was excavated there and the casemate sunk into the ground.
During excavation work in March 2017, the casemate was rediscovered. On 13 April 2017, the 110-tonne casemate was moved to this location (corner Ringweg Koppel / Zielhorsterweg) and is a reminder of the vanished Grebbelinie in Amersfoort.
