The plaque on the wall of this bunker recalls the fighting for the bridge over the Corinth Canal on 26 April 1941 between Commonwealth troops and German paratroopers trying to capture the bridge. The bridge was destroyed before the eyes of the Germans.
The plaque bears the following text:
BATTLE OF THE CORINTH CANAL MEMORIAL
To the memory of all the servicemen of all nations who fell during the battle of the Corinth Canel witch took place on the 26th April 1941, to the Australian soldiers of the 2/6th Battalion who defended the bridge near this spot and the British and New Zealand troops who also took part in the battle.
