Crashsite Halifax III LW647 MP-W

At this location the Halifax bomber of the 76 squadron crashed during the night of 30-31 March 1944. The Halifax III LW647 MP-W was shot down near Freinesteinau by a German night fighter. This monument was erected by the local population in memory of the aircrew members who were temporarily buried in the cemetery and later moved to an Allied cemetery. The names of the crew are listed on the monument.
