Gottfried Ballin was a member of the resistance en lived in cologne.
He worked in the family bookshop wich was one of the oldest book shops in cologne.
The shop was opened in 1842.
In 1934 Gottfried and his resistance group where arrested because of high treason.
He was convicted to prison and hoped to be released after his sentence.
This did not happen as he was deported to camp Sachsenhausen in 1939.
After that he was brought to Auschwitz and was killed after a escape attempt in 1943.
In Cologne there is a stolperstone which his name in the Steinfelder Gasse 8.
