War Memorial St John's Helsington

The War Memorial in St John's Helsington takes the form of an oil painting by the artist the Honourable Marion Saumarez entitled 'Altar of Sacrifice' unveiled in 1919. Local girls were used as models for the 12 angels including Mary Wilkinson whose brother, Edward, in listed on the Roll of Honour in the church.

"To the Glory of God and in Memory of all faithful departed espescially those who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-1919"
