From July 5, 1944 to April 16, 1945, the Schwarzheide subcamp was one of the subcamps of Sachsenhausen with about ten wooden barracks in a pine forest.
The factories had been damaged by Allied bombing. The forced laborers were used for the repair work.
In April 1945 a death march was also started here, at the end of the march more than two thirds of the 1,000 forced laborers had died.
