Within Mountain View Cemetery, four Victoria Cross Winners are commemorated.

Harry Churchill BEET. Captain. 1st Bn Derbyshire Regt. Born Bingham. Nottinghamshire England 1 Apr 1875. Died 10 jan 1946, Vancouver B.C.
VC won Wakkerstroom, 2nd Boer War 22 April 1900. Gazetted 12 February 1901.
VC held Sherwood Foresters Museum, Nottingham.

John Chipman KERR. Private 49th (Edmonton) Bn, Canadian Expeditionary Force. Born Fox River, Nova Scotia, 11 January 1887. Died 19 February 1963, Port Moody.
VC won Courcelette, Somme, France. 16 September 1916. Gazetted 26 October 1916.
VC held Canadian War Museum, Ottawa.

Robert Gordon McBEATH. Lance Corporal. 5th Bn. Seaforth Highlanders. Born Fraserburgh, Caithness, Scotland. 22 December 1898. Died 9 October 1922. St Pauls Hospital, Vancouver.
VC won Cambrai France, 20 November 1917. Gazetted 11 January 1918.
VC held The Highlander Museum. Fort George, Ardesier, Scotland.
Headstone has name as MacBeath.
Robert McBeath emigrated to Vancouver and joined the Police Department and whilst trying to apprehend a drunk driver was shot and killed.

Robert SHANKLAND. Lieutenant Colonel. 43rd Bn (Cameron Highlanders of Canada) Canadian Expeditionary Force. Born Ayr, Ayrshire Scotland 10 oct 1887. Died 20 January 1968 Vancouver B.C.
VC won Passchendale, Belgium, 26 October 1887. Gazettted 18 December 1917.
VC held Canadian War Museum, Ottawa.
Lt. Col Shankland was cremated and his ashes scattered in the Memorial Gardens.
Lt Col Shankland lived for a time in Pine Road, Winnipeg which was renamed Valour Road in 1925 to recognise it had been home to three Victoria Cross winners, Corporal Leo CLARKE and Sergeant-Major Frederick William HALL also resided in Pine Street
