Former RAF Airfield Reykjavik

In 1940, following the British occupation of Iceland, Reykjavik's grass strip was transformed into a Class A airfield with 3 intersecting concrete runways. The RAF then operated from this airfield throughout the war and on 6 July 1946 it was gifted it to the city of Reykjavik.

Flying boats operated out of nearby Skerjafjorou.
