Memorial War Widow with Children

With this memorial, the children honour their mothers who were widowed during World War II and had to raise them alone in the scarce and difficult years that followed.

The inscription reads, ‘I owe my existence to my strong, strict and gentle mother. Thank you, mother. May our sorrows never be repeated.

The monument erected in 1974 is the work of sculptor Miyamoto Takashi.
