Crashsite Locheed Hudson (RAF)

Near the village of Brisy, a Lockheed Hudson was shot out of the sky on November 27th, 1944. It crashed on this spot.

The purpose of the operation was to drop an American secret agent by parachute over Armstadt, near Erfurt Germany. The agent in question was Paul Penczock who was to gather intelligence under the name Paul Woderski. The operation went well and the agent was dropped by parachute above the location. On the way back, however, the Hudson was attacked by a German night fighter. All four occupants were killed in the crash that followed the attack.
