Bunker MM 10 Chaineux

Bunker MM 10 is the 11th bunker from the sector Manaihant-Les Margarins of the 1st defense line of the city of Liège, La Position Fortifiée de Liège 1, PFL 1.

It is the 11th bunker because bunker 9 was never built and bunker 5 has a 2nd bunker, and there is a separate bunker MM305 in this sector.

The bunker is located in a meadow and is still accessible. The bunker appears to have been used to pump water from lower parts of the meadow to it. Two of the four plot posts are still present. Post DN 2 and 3. DN stands for "Defense National. The original fence from the 1930s is also still present. Only the entrance gate has been lost.

The bunkers were built in the early 1930s. The walls of the bunkers from the PFL line are 1.3 meters thick reinforced concrete. They could withstand shelling with 150mm shells.

After the war, when the bunkers lost their strategic value for the defense of Belgium, the metal of the shutters and doors was sold as scrap metal. In this case also the entrance gate. Also, most of the plots on which they stood were sold, so that many bunkers now stand on private plots.
