Funicular Railway Clifton Rocks Upper Station

The water powered funicular railway ran from March 1893 until 1934. During WW2 the upper sections of the 450 feet tunnels were used as a workshop servicing barrage balloons and the middle section was used as an air raid shelter.

The lower section was made into radio transmission studios for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)
