Memorial Avro Lancaster I R5572

The Avro Lancaster of RAF 106 Squadron, based at Syerston, was shot down during an attack on Gelsenkirchen on the night of 25 to 26 June 1943. Only the pilot Sgt. E.W. Davidson survived the crash. He was taken prisoner of war. The remaining six crew members died and were buried in Steenderen.
