Memorial Resistance Fighters Bergen op Zoom

This is a memorial for the Zeeland resistance fighters Marinus de Groot and Wouter Damen. They were executed 80 years ago. Both were active in the illegal newspaper Trouw. De Groot was a subordinate commander in the intelligence service of the Zeeland resistance and Damen distributed evacuation exemptions. The memorial is a tribute to their heroic deeds. There is a second memorial for them on the Oude Postweg on the other side of the A58. That memorial is on their execution location.
