Memorial Wittlich

On the wall of the honorary cemetery there are two plaques with the text:
"We remember our fallen and missing 1939 - 45".
The memorial plaques are donations from the Panzer-Jäger-abteilung 34 Wittlich and from the third Infantry Regiment 105 (III./IR 105) Wittlich.
These two army divisions had moved to the two new barracks in Wittlich in 1938.
The garrison town had an estimated 1,500 soldiers. After the war it was taken over by the French army.

At the end of the wall at the passage hangs a third plaque:
"With the granting of the patent by the city of Wittlich on October 21, 2017, the camaraderie of the Wittlich reservists, together with the city, is committed to supporting the honorary cemetery and to commemorating the victims of war and tyranny. It aims to be a reminder of peace between peoples, respect for dignity and the will to protect and preserve human freedom."
