Memorial Alex Decoteau Passendale

This corten steel memorial commemorates Private Alex Decoteau of the 49th Canadian Inf. Bat. who on 30 April 1917
fell during an attack by his unit at this site.

Decoteau was part of the native population in Canada and was the first native policeman in Edmonton. In addition, he was also a talented athlete and ran the 5000 metres for Canada at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics.
