Rollbahn A; German Assault Route Ardennes Offensive

Rollbahn A is the route taken by the 12. SS-Panzerdivision and the 277. Volksgrenadier-Division took during the Ardennes Offensive. The complete (tank) units 12SS and VDG 277 had to cross forest paths to make the one attack towards Rocherath Krinkelt. The starting point was to the west just outside Hollerath.
The aim of the offensive was to surprise the Allies on the Western Front and break through their lines.
The Ardennes Offensive, also known as the ‘Wacht am Rhein’, was initiated by Adolf Hitler to deal a decisive blow to the Allies and destabilise the front lines in the west.
Rollbahn A was a strategically important supply route used by German troops during the Ardennes Offensive. It served to move troops and equipment to the offensive and was crucial for supporting the advancing units.
The Ardennes Offensive and its associated routes such as Rollbahn A and VGD 277 played a crucial role in Germany's last-ditch efforts in World War II. Despite initial successes, the difficulties and eventual losses were considerable.
