Location of former Marine Airfield Veere.
Marine Airfield Veere was a naval port for seaplanes that was located on the Canal through Walcheren in Veere. The port, together with the Mine Warehouse, which was located on the other side of the canal, formed the Marine Support Point Veere. It was in use as a sea airfield from 1917 to 1945.
After the Second World War, the airfield site was used as a marina and a water sports company was located there. Over time, the remains of the airfield were demolished and the slope disappeared. In 2011, the municipality of Veere repaved the quay and converted it into a parking lot for tourists visiting Veere. As a result, there is nothing left on site that reminds us of the former airfield. The mine warehouse is still - completely intact - on the other side of the canal.
