Truppenübungsplatz Hillersleben

Truppenübungsplatz Hillersleben has been used for artillery tests since 1936, including the Dora gun. Adolf Hitler visited the exercise area at least twice, including on 6 December 1938. On 13 April 1945, the area was captured by the 9th US Army and the 2nd US Armored Division. Between 1945 and 1994, the area was used by the Red Army.

The base is currently abandoned. Some Werhmacht buildings are still there, including the 'Offizerskasino'.
