Bunkers German Navy Headquarters Esjberg

Right at the beginning of the German occupation of Denmark in April 1940, the war headquarters of the Kriegsmarine settled in Esbjerg harbour. Around Hulvejen and Havnegarde, several buildings were seized to serve as offices (Graf Spee Haus) and for housing. The headquarters was named: Stp. MarKo: The Stützpunkt Marine Kommando.

In the immediate vicinity of the headquarters, a number of bunkers for command purposes, radio communications, staff quarters and storage, among others, were built by the Orginisation Todt at short intervals, the first of which was completed in autumn 1943. Some of the bunkers belonging to this complex of types M152, V193 and 622 have survived.
