There was a stone quarry on this site during the Second World War and the Roma and Sinti were put to work before being transported to the extermination camps. A total of 130 people were housed here, including 11 children. This memorial commemorates them.
After they were removed, French prisoners of war were placed in the barracks from 1943 onwards, after which the barracks were demolished after the war and a rubbish dump was set up here.
