Memorial George Lechleiter
George Lechleiter was one of the founders of the local KPD, the Communist Party of Germany, in Mannheim. On March 5, 1933, he was captured by National Socialists and imprisoned until 1937.
After returning to Mannheim, he started a resistance group and began publishing pamphlets, but the Gestapo arrested him and most of the group on February 26, 1942. He was sentenced to death on May 15, 1942 and on September 15, 1942. beheaded by guillotine.
