At this location, the Košice brick factory, 15,000 Jews from Košice and surrounding areas were interned in this ghetto between April 1944 and July 1944, after which they were deported to the extermination camps. This memorial is built with old stones from the former factory and contains the following text in Slovak, Hungarian, Hebrew and English:
Between the end of April and the beginning of June 1944, more than 15,000 Jews from Kosice and the surrounding area were interned in an old brick factory
and in the ghetto only a few hundred returned before their deportation to the death camps.
