Major General Jesse Lee Reno Memorial

The city of El Reno features a memorial to Major General Jesse Lee Reno in honor of the city being named after him.
Major General Jesse Lee Reno was a graduate of West Point in 1864 and was decorated three times in the Mexican-American War that same year.
During the 2nd Battle of Bull Run he saved the capital and was promoted to major general. He was killed by friendly fire while scouting at the Battle of South Mountain in Maryland on September 14, 1862.
