Medal of Honor Ernest Childers Memorial

This memorial stands on the grounds of the museum of the 45th Infantry Division and commemorates Ernest Childers who, as Second Lieutenant in Oliveto in Italy, for his actions to eliminate 2 snipers and 2 machine gun nests and capture a German artillery observer. He was a native American and the first to earn an MoH since the Indian Wars.
