Memorial Site T4 Alstendorfer Anstalten

This location housed an evangelical institution for the disabled known as Alstendorfer Anstalten. As part of the Nazi euthanasia program, also known as Aktion T4, a total of 630 children and adults were deported from here to be murdered. About 80 survived. A total of 513 are known to have been killed, due to lethal injection, gassing and negligence, among other things. In Nazi Germany, these people were considered “unworthy of life.” Their care cost the popular community too much money in the eyes of the Nazis.

Today a memorial is located here, which was renewed in 2023. A glass plaque displays the names of the victims. A multimedia outdoor exhibit tells the history of the murder of the 513 victims.
