Memorial Stone Wietmarschen

In the countryside between Lingen and Lohne near the hamlet of Rükel is a memorial stone consisting of a boulder with brass plaque. It states that the former prison camp Herzford stood here. This camp was established by the NS regime and was inhabited by about 80 French prisoners of war who were used in the area for forced labor in the chemical industry or for agricultural work.
