In the Saint-Amelberga Church in Wechelderzande (Lille) hangs a memorial plaque to the fallen of 1914-1918.
The memorial consists of a black marble slab, on which a black
marble cross with the well-known AVV-VVK, “All For
Flanders, Flanders For Kristus” from the Flemish movement. When on the
hero tributes (for the fallen) this acronym, after a design
by Joe English, was used in cross form, it also appears regularly on the
commemorative monuments.
