German Memorial of the 6th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No.55

The original monument was dedicated on August 14, 1872, but around the turn of the century the monument was
dismantled due to its poor condition, and replaced by a new monument on August 14, 1903,
This is a carved boulder from the Teutoburg Forest, the eagle and 2 metal information plates,
disappeared from this monument after 1918.
In 1942 the Germans installed a new information table, which is still there today.

The 6th IR 55 lost here on August 14, 1870, at the Battle of Colombey; 107 dead, 423 injured and 9 missing.
