The village of Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez, located in the Pilat Regional Natural Park, is a unique example of a Chartreuse transformed into a village during the French Revolution. Behind imposing fortified walls, there are charming houses spread over two courtyards. These two parts are connected by a very long corridor that serves as an alley. In this former monastery, there are surprising spaces to discover, the complex is completely surrounded by a stream.
On the left in front of the complex, there is a memorial:
"1914-1918 - 1939-1945
The municipality of
Sainte Croix en Jarez
to his children
died for France"
