German War Memorial Sighisoara

This memorial is dedicated to the German soldiers belonging to the Evangelical Church and Mountain School of Sighisoara who died during the First World War. The city had had a large Saxon community since the Middle Ages, which declined steadily after World War I.

The text on the monument reads:
'1914-1918
Der Heldensöhne der Evangelischen Kirchgemeinde und Bergschule, in Treuem Gedenten geweiht 1923'

'1914-1918
The heroic sons of the Protestant parish and mountain school, inducted in faithful memory 1923'
