Maginot Line - Maison Forte (MF21) Mogues

This Maison Forte (MF) type Ardennes consists of a light blockhouse with an accommodation for the troops on top. The line-up consisted of a non-commissioned officer, a corporal and four soldiers from the 15th company of the 136th RIF. The occupation had to sound the alarm in the event of a German invasion and blow up roads and bridges.
It was armed with a 37mm anti-tank gun, two light machine guns, 2 attachments for firing rifle grenades, 100 light anti-tank mines and 20 elements for an anti-tank barrier.
The MF has become a ruin. In May 1940 it was involved several times in skirmishes with the German army. Shortly after the French artillery ceased fire in the area, the Maison Forte was abandoned by the garrison.
